Welcome to Lee Anne White Photography. An award-winning garden photographer, Lee Anne specializes in garden design, landscape architecture, horticulture and landscape photography. She is based in the Atlanta area, but has a penchant for travel and thus traverses the country photographing notable public and private gardens, as well as the work of talented garden designers and landscape architects. In fact, it's not unusual for her to spend as much time exploring gardens in the desert southwest and northern California as throughout the southeastern United States.
With training in both landscape design and graphic design, Lee Anne has an eye for spatial design, hardscape details and planting design that translates easily in her images. Special image collections include water gardens, swimming pools and spas, front yard gardens, outdoor living areas, paths and steps, patios and terraces, decks and porches, and beds and borders -- the kinds of outdoor spaces that help make a house a home. She also has growing collections of plant images -- from trees and shrubs to annuals, perennials and tropicals -- and both interior and exterior home design photographs.
Lee Anne has first-hand knowledge of the editorial process. She is a former chief editor of Fine Gardening magazine and is the author, editor and/or photographer of more than a dozen books. In other words, she's worn the shoes of a photo buyer, editor and author -- not just those of a photographer -- and she'll go out of her way to help you track down the right image and meet your deadlines. She has photographed more than 60 magazine features and more than 25 book or magazine covers. Her latest titles include the Outdoor Living Idea Book, Backyard Idea Book and Pool Idea Book.
In addition to licensing stock imagery to or handling assignments for publishers, Lee Anne handles commercial projects and teaches a garden photography workshop each summer at The Maine Photographic Workshops in Rockport, Maine. There she can share her love for both photography and gardens with others who share her passions. (As a kid, she dreamed of becoming a camp director, so she describes this as a sort of "summer camp for grownups.")
Although she can still handle medium- and large-format film assignments, Lee Anne has been shooting digitally almost exclusively for several years. She is a member of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP), Stock Artists Alliance (SAA), National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP), North American Nature Photographers Association (NANPA) and Garden Writers Association (GWA).
